My new favorite thing that Easton does lately is say, "ummm..." if he's thinking of what he wants to eat or if we ask him a question and he has to think about it for awhile. It's so dang cute! Other new things he's been up to lately is going potty on the big boy potty. He does really great on the weekends when he's with us. During the week... not so much. They're not really pushing for it too much at daycare yet - and we're not really pushing it either. Just letting him take the lead since he's still pretty young to potty train. Especially for a boy. Plus we see him for like 2 hours a day during the week so we don't really put much effort forth either. But the past two weekends he's either had underwear on or pull-ups and he's stayed dry for the most part. So, we're really happy with the progress he's made so far. Plus it's saving us some $ not using as many diapers. And we're all about that! He also loves to sing the "A B C's." He can sing the whole thing if he copies us - and when he does it by himself it goes something like this, "A B C D E R S T O P R" (R is is favorite letter...so of course you have to use it more than once)! :) One of his 2 year molars also started poking through last week. Yay for getting the final baby teeth! Boo for a crabby baby who is in pain in the middle of the night and will only sleep if he's in the chair with mom (dad wouldn't even do...it was a rough night). Poor little guy... but that was very short-lived, thank goodness. He is doing much better... until the rest of the 2-yrs start to come in. ;)
With all of that being said---it's obvious he's growing up too fast! We're just trying to soak it all in while we can. He'll be off to kindergarten before we know it. yikes! We finally decided to get a membership to the zoo the other weekend. Best decision ever. We live 7 minutes from the zoo and Easton LOVES animals so it only made sense. We went last Saturday, Sunday and then again this past Saturday. So, we've already got the membership paid for. It's nice to be able to go for like an hour and not feel like we need to spend a lot of time their because we paid a lot to get in and for parking etc... it's just another thing to do (especially in the winter when we can stay inside and look at the monkeys and fish (his favorite lately). Although, this last Saturday we ventured outside because it was 30 degrees. It was great - absolutely no crowds and the animals were all out and moving around - we saw grizzly's, tigers, camels, moose, etc.. etc..
Can't believe in a little over a month Easton will be 2!!! Seems like just yesterday I was big and fat and waiting for the little guy to arrive. Speaking of, Easton saw a picture of me when I was pregnant and said, "whoa mama, ball in their (as he pointed to my stomach)!" So funny! He continues to amaze me with how smart he is. The other day when I picked him up from daycare as we were leaving I told him I have to stop and get gas on the way home and as we were driving he says, "mama, gas over there" and points to a gas station we were driving by. What? I didn't even know he knew what this was! And lately when we drive home from daycare he tells me which way to turn to get home. Such a smartypants! He is also obsessed with pickles. He would eat an entire jar at every meal if we'd let him... seriously. He's definitely his mother's son. (he also likes sauerkraut)!
Well, that's all for now. I'll try to update again before his birthday! Here are a few pictures from my phone...no time to upload real ones right now. Enjoy!
