Easton had surgery this morning to have tubes put in his ears. He has suffered for over 3 months with fluid in his ears and chronic ear infections. If he wasn't on an antibiotic he would get an ear infection (and even sometimes when he was still on an antibiotic). The poor little guy was just miserable so Jake and I decided to make and appointment with an ENT and put a stop to his suffering. We met with the ENT this past Tuesday and before we left that appointment we had a surgery scheduled for today, 3 days later! We were so relieved that we could get it done so soon! They did a hearing test at that appointment and his left ear seemed okay, however, they said his right ear was not good at all. :(
Easton did great with the surgery (Mom and Dad were nervous wrecks in the waiting room...however it was literally 11 minutes later that they told us to go back and talk with the doctor, so it was VERY quick). All the doctors and nurses LOVED him and his contagious smile - they said he was the best baby they had all day! He was a bit disoriented after the surgery from the anesthesia but that didn't last too long after he was able to eat something as he had to go almost 10 hours without eating or drinking anything. It's amazing because we already notice that he's able to walk better. All the fluid in his ear threw off his balance so just noticing a difference with that alone makes this all worth it. Hopefully his language will be able to develop better now too!
We're very hopeful that this will be the end of fluid, ear infections, and pain for our little guy!
